I've been into videogames all my life, but I've been cosplaying since 2005 and my first cosplay was Talim from Soul Calibur. Later on, I became a writer and photographer for Aftercon.com, doing features on any Anime convention that I have attended. Since then, the world of cosplay and props are stuck on me like an octopus.
I have an unhealthy relationship with anything pop culture really, especially videogames!
Cosplay was a happy coincidence. I was but a meager little kid, still learning English who loved Sailor Moon that my friends and I would patrol the school playground against the evil doings of bullies. I even took up gymnastics to train up! Along with help from my loving family, I was endowed with a Sailor Jupiter costume and I became a little less meager kid who loved cosplay!
Gaming had roots which stemmed further back. My family and I strolled through Toys-R-Us and we walked out with three things: A Super Nintendo Console, Super Mario World and Mario Paint. My father sat us down with the console in hand and said, “This right here is the future.” Since then, I have come to treasure both his words and the desire to escape from (home)work.
Languages are my newest interest. Just when I was getting the hang of English, French came along with its baguettes and pungent cheeses. Then I decided to major in it and took other foreign languages for reasons none other than to travel in the future. To this day, I became intrigued with the science of languages as it literally opened up a world of possibilities!
